The venue at KUNSTGUT is the salon. Its function : Exhibition room, meeting
room and various small events.
There have already been a number of events organized by KUNSTGUT since June
2003. Up to now, the main emphasis has been on art exhibitions and performances.
There have been two lines:
One line refers to the art school. This is the exhibition series “Teachers/
Instructors KUNSTGUT“ and “ Students KUNSTGUT“. For the
other events, friendly artists of KUNSTGUT were invited.
During these times, the salon has developed very well. With its unconventional
concept – the combination of the ateliers of the art school and the
intimate atmosphere, and all of that in a rented flat in Berlin- Wedding
-, KUNSTGUT has already managed to make a name for itself.
With the experience of these times, new aims have arisen: the sharpening
of the profile regarding the events, and the extension into an international
art school with regard to the studies. In both areas, the focus is on aspects
regarding content
Elementary design of reality
Future exhibitions and projects will revolve around the theme “Elementary
design of reality“ ( except the exhibitions of KUNSTGUT students). This
means essential interaction between individual and social identity, between
idea and material, between rationality and spirituality. Art is supposed
to have a real effect and influence on reality with these positions. In
other words, art doesn´t become pure visual objects, but fits in with
everyday reality, with the intention of co- planning this reality in a real
or exemplary way. So the main question is, how far does the work fit in
with reality in terms of of having a real influence on it?
Behind that are the crucial questions of function and value. An object that
loses its function is worthless. But the sheer function of an object does
not say anything about its value.
It is an intersection between artificial and non- artificial objects, which
has basically always been fluid.
The aim is to recruit selected artists for future salon presentations, who
are tackling exactly these questions.
